Yes. SBPC is a collaborative community run 100% by volunteers, so we depend on engaged members to sustain every single one of our activities. If you would like to attend a trial event as a prospective member, please contact informationsbpc@gmail.com.
Absolutely. A strong majority of SBPC families have two working parents, and because of this many of our events fall outside the hours of a typical work week [link to events], and we even have a Mothers Navigating Careers sub group that meets regularly. Our online forums are another way to make local connections and seek support, no matter how overwhelming your work schedule is.
No. We suggest members live in San Bruno or surrounding communities as most of our activities center in the San Bruno area.
The San Bruno Parents Club does not have an age limit requirement; however, most of our members have children under the age of six. The majority of our events and activities cater to children ages 5 and under.
Membership dues, along with the funds SBPC raises from fundraising and advertising, cover or subsidize the costs of events such as children’s outings, parents nights out, pizza in the park, speaker events, new member socials, and our fun-filled seasonal parties. A small amount of our budget is also allocated to administrative expenses, such as renting a PO box and hosting this website.
Please do! Send an email to informationsbpc@gmail.com we will contact you to discuss upcoming events and playgroups.
There are several benefits to joining while still expecting. You can make some new connections before you’re in the haze of adjusting to life with a new baby, and seek compassionate advice from people who have gone through what you’re currently experiencing. There is also a steady stream of free or inexpensive second-hand baby items changing hands in our online marketplace. Join us for a well-earned parents night out, drop in for an infant playgroup to see what it’s like, or introduce yourself in our online forums.
Many SBPC events are free, such as our weekly playgroups and quarterly parties. Some events may be subject to a small fee (e.g. going to an indoor play area for a children’s outing). We do our best to subsidize events or get a group rate whenever possible.
It depends on the event. Most subsidized events are members-only, and some venues may have capacity limitations or other considerations. Please contact the event coordinator or host to inquire.
Playgroups connection points for similarly-aged children and their parents/caregivers. SBPC’s playgroup leads coordinate a couple playgroups a week at parks or member’s homes, and members are also welcome to arrange unofficial playgroups via our online forums.
Playgroups are an opportunity to meet other parents with similarly-aged children, and develop a small support network within our large club. You will enjoy watching your child’s first friendships develop over time. The playgroups provide the opportunity to make long-term friendships with other families.
Once you join SBPC you will have access to our Events Registration portal, where you can find full details for all our events. Please RSVP so event leads know to expect you!
The length of time can vary depending on location and age of the children. Typically a playgroup lasts about 1 – 2 hours.
